November 2009 Daring Cooks' Challenge--寿司

My Red Dragon, with tomato scales and green wasabi eyes
Spiral Rolls made with crab meat and mangoes, and the other one with hot dog, cucumber and mangoes

Nigiri made of Hot dog and Crab stick

The November 2009 Daring Cooks' Challenge was brought to you by Audax of Audax Artifex and Rose of The Bite Me Kitchen. They chose sushi as the challenge.
It's that time of the month again when all the Daring Cooks around the world gather (in cyberspace) and present their version of that month's challenge. This time, the challenge was sushi. I procrastinated until the last moment before I made this, and I'm sorry to say, I wasnt too happy with the end result: note to self--do not procrastinate! There was no avocado in the supermarket so I used tomatoes for the dragon's scales and made mine a Red Dragon :)
For the spiral rolls, I wasnt too imaginative and chose the safe and easy crabstick and paired it with mangoes on one version and mangoes with cucumber for the next one.
Same with the nigiri, I chose hot dog, and crabstick. I enjoyed making this but definitely next time, I'm going to start early!!

What can I say your red dragon is perfection and I don't think your fillings or toppings aren't imaginative enough I made hot-dog nigiri also and crab stick nigiri also, because I like hot-dogs and crab sticks. You are beening to harsh on yourself I think your sushi looks fine. Well done. Cheers from Audax in Australia.

Love the red dragon esp. the head, so cute=;) I did my sushi w/ mangoes too, as i'm used to Pinoy version of the California rolls w/c are cucumbers, crabsticks, carrots, avocado and mango.

How are you? I could imagine the beautiful Christmas decors all over the malls.

Love your tomato dragon roll - I never thought of tomato. :) Btw: I thought that yellow thing was Japanese pickled , again you are so creative to put in mango. :)

Love your sushi, the dragon is very cute. Don't be hard on yourself, it's hard to be creative all the time, plus the point is to make something you actually want to eat. Plus everyone likes hotdogs!

The red dragon is very cute with it's green wasabi eyes. :-) I have a Korean coworker who brings hot dog sushi for lunch. It's all good! Good job on the challenge.

Crabmeat and mango, I should have thought of that combination. Must taste really good!

Simplicity is best! It shows all over your sushis :-)
